Bert Vandermark, president of the League for more than
20 years, sadly
died on 14 February 2021, aged 87. Our thoughts are with his family. Bert was for
many years a constant presence at Victoria Park on cricket evenings,
offering advice to players and encouraging all to play in the spirit of the
game. In the league's early days, Bert played for Finsbury Park CC. In more
recent years, ill-health forced Bert to reduce his appearances at the park,
but could still often be seen riding his mobility scooter around the
pitches.
Bert was a legend in Victoria Park cricketing circles, and the League will
be commemorating Bert’s life, inviting his family, friends and players to a
special occasion during the coming season.
Insurance for individual teams
Insurance for each season is highly recommended
for all VPCCL teams and/or individual participants – including guest cup
teams.
Contact the Secretary if you have any questions about this
recommendation.

The Victoria Park Community Cricket League was formed in 1988 to provide access to competitive cricket to a wide range of people. Some are more competitive than others, but the aim is that games are played in a friendly and welcoming spirit. Anyone, regardless of ability, is most welcome. To find out how to enter a team for our league or cup competitions contact the league secretary.

Shining a light on England’s Black cricketers
Chance to Shine teamed up with Wisden in October to celebrate the work of England’s Black cricketers during Black History Month. In conjunction with the charity, this Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast spoke to players including Roland Butcher, Devon Malcolm and Alex Tudor to discuss their careers, the challenges they faced and how the game can support more people from Black backgrounds to take part. Downloadable scorecard
Click below to download a printable scorecard for VPCCL matches. This specially designed scorecard is tailored for the 8-a-side 16-over VPCCL matches.
Both teams are required to send a photograph of their scorecard within 24 hours of their match to George Watson via WhatsApp or by email to georgewatson24 [at] gmail.com (replace [at] with @).
You can download and print a VPCCL scorecard designed for our 16-over matches here: choose either Excel format or PDF format.
Scorecards must be fully completed, with full names for each player. The scorecard must give each batsman's score, details of how they were dismissed and by which bowler. The bowling analysis must detail how many overs each bowler delivered, maiden overs, runs conceded and wickets taken. Extras must be completed showing no balls, wides, byes and leg byes.
Teams failing to meet these reporting requirements
may be deducted points, as detailed in Rule 16
(see Rules).
