Chats Palace won by 4 runs
Chats Palace lost the toss and were put into bat
Chats Palace: 122 for 5 in 16 overs
Rory Byrne 35
Sam Hickey 33
Old Ranwellians: 118 for 3 in 16 overs
Having been put into bat, Chats Palace struggled to assert any authority
with the bat against skillful and dogged bowling.
Opener Rory Byrne started strongly before fading; but Chats Palace'
innings was rescued by Sam Hickey hitting four fours, one six and a two; 24
in one over, establishing a renewed impetus that saw them through to a total
that could be defended.
In at times atrocious conditions and ultimately in fading light, Old
Ranwellians remained in touch with the target.
An amazing piece of fielding by Rory Byrne, leading to a direct throw
run out, checked the reply to a degree, but a large number of wides - allied
to dogged and lusty batting meant that the last over left them requiring
just seven runs.
However, a brilliant skillful over containing a wicket, from Nomaan
restricted Old Ranwellians to just one run.
