Caledonian Conquerors won by 2 wickets
Caledonian Conquerors lost the toss and were put into field
Caledonian Conquerors: 138 for 5 in 15.1 overs
Mohammed Shakoor 41
Mohammed Fazal 30
L Faisal 4 overs 47 runs for 2 wickets
Pacific: 135 for 6 in 16 overs
D Tempany 70 Not Out
Waqar Ali 4 overs 36 runs for 2 wickets
Rick Davies 4 overs 27 runs for 2 wickets
Having won the toss Pacific decided to bat and opened the innings in
disasterous fashion losing Lucias Faisal to a risky run out very cheaply.
Although Darren Tempany played a very attacking innings, he was given
little support by his team-mates and actually came back into bat having
retired with his half century already.
He bludgeoned a further 20 of off the last 10 deliveries to take the
Pacific total to a respectable 135. Rick Davies impressed with the ball for
the Cally's restricting the Pacific onslaught in the middle overs.
Cally's started the run chase with Mohammed Faisal taking the Pacific
bowlers on. Cally's were averaging 10 runs per over throughout and were well
on target.
With wickets falling all the time though, Pacific fought thier way
back into the game. It was not until the last over when 2 runs were
required, that the game was won by the Conquerers.
Only Mohamed Shakoor showed any resistance and stabilised the innings
with his attacking stroke play and introduced us to the VPCCL version of
Tillekeratne Dilshan's 'Starfish' (for those not in the know that is the
'scooping the ball over the keepers head' shot!).
Well done Cally's - we are into the quarter finals of the cup.
