After winning the toss Team Masiah chose to bat first.
After a promising start, the cheap wicket of Rahil was an immense blow as
Team Masiah really needed to get a win to get their season back on track. In
came Jamal up the order as cover for Masiah's star batsman (Majid) who was
running late.
Another blow Jimmy out cheaply and continued his disappointing poor
batting form in the league. In next was Mak to stabilize Masiah's innings as
this was looking like a typical top order collapse.
Establishing a partnership with the captain was essential, but again
the opposition struck and Adnan was left WAITING and was run out. Next in
Was Harry, could Harry salvage anything and stop the rot at the top?
After establishing a settled inning Mak finally gave way but redeemed
himself with a respectable 27 runs off 23 balls.
In came Amar, with his unorthodox stance which puzzled and sent the
opposition bowlers into Bedlam, Amar seized his moment to shine and three
boundaries in a row followed.
Amar went for Glory however it was not to be and was stumped but the young
man from Ilford can hold is head high as a quickfire 21 off 19 balls put
some much needed runs off the board.
With Majid Arriving with two overs left for Masiah to slave a competitive
score, The opposition did not allow him to come into bat in line with VPCCL
rules and Majid had to wait his turn to bat last.
Next came Kash, and out went Kash first ball, another disappointing batting
show from Kash.
With 11 balls remaining, In came Majid to completely smash the ball around
the park for fun to make an astonishing 21 runs off 9 balls.
A score of 134 was salvaged with the the Masiah middle order and Tailenders
with a little bit of fire power from Majid who was man of the match.
Unfortunately Homerton were unable to respond to chase the target down
however, a huge shout to Richard who played his first competitive game after
20 years making an astonishing comeback with the bat.
