In a late start on a pleasant warm evening at Victoria Park , Sky
returned to some semblance of form against London Fields by securing a
comfortable 46 run victory. Winning the toss (and given the late start -
agreeing a 13 over match with the opposition) Sky elected to bat and began
agressively with Aleem Husain (17) and Haris Ali (30*)opening the innings,
however the loss of Aleem resulted in the run rate slowing down as the
London Fields bowlers began to exert some pressure on Sky's top order.
At 8 an over the run rate was under par, however impetus to the
innings was given with the arrival of Jahinger Ahmed (27)and particularly
Imran Khan (23), who began a brutal assault in a 9 ball innings of 23 to
leave Sky on 148-4 after 13 overs. London Fields began their chase with a
bang with 14 off Waleed's first over this was followed by 10 off opening
partner Azeem's over.
After 6 overs and with 60 on the board the experienced pair of Rizwan
Siddiqui (3-1-15-4) and Imran Khan (4-0-23-3)came on and began to wreak
havoc to the London Field's innings. Imran picked up three wickets but it
was Rizwan's second over , a triple wicket maiden, that extinguished any
lingering hope that London Fields may have had of overhauling Sky's total.
With his fourth wicket (also the final delivery of the innings),
Rizwan concluded proceedings to ensure a first victory for Sky's Division 1
2010 campaign.
