Finally with the summer finally arrived (at least for some days) ELCCC
players arrived at victoria park to play their first league game against
Safe Skills. ELCCC's captain Mohit won the toss and without wasting much
time elected to bat.
Safe Skills' opening bowler asif and salman kept the bowling very
tight and tucked up boom boom altaf. With the run rate below 6 in first 6
overs it seemed it seemed like it is going to be a low scoring game but in
the 7th over opener shakeel (the shak attack) broke free and hit the first
boundary of match and scored 14 runs of that over.
Very next over Altaf tried to up his strike rate but was bowled out on
a super delivery by adnan. In came yasir and started to hit the ball all
around the park with shakeel. Both of them then up the run rate to a
respectable 9. Shakeel got caught out on 48 and yasir scored 47 with 2
massive sixes before getting bowled out.
ELCCC posted a total of 144 in 16 overs which is good enough to defend
with disciplined bowling and fielding and thats what ELCCC bowlers and
fielders made sure. Opening bowler Waheed gave a super spell of 3 overs.
Altaf came as a first change and within his first over got the wicket of
Safe Skills opener.
A difficult high catch in the strong wind taken by Altaf of his own
bowling in which he hurt his finger. Syed came as second change and took
witcket on his first ball. Soon it was wickets coming every other over.
Altaf took 3 wickets in 3 overs by giving away only 12 runs.
Mohit took 1 wicket in the only over he bowled and gave only 1 run as
a wide. Sake skills got all out on 69 with 2 run outs. A good game played
under bright & warn sun with right spirit of cricket. Good luck to both
teams for upcoming matches.
