Junoon v Regents

Friday 21 May 2010, Victoria Park
Junoon won by 6 wickets

Junoon lost the toss and were put into field

Junoon: 81 for 1 in 9.5 overs
Rahil 45*
Faiz 18*

Regents: 80 for 5 in 16 overs
H Dinesan 27*
Nas M 1-10
Abby M 1-18

On a nice sunny Friday evening, this match was played in the best of conditions. Both teams knew a win would take them to the 2nd round cup match. Junoon lost the toss and were put into field. However, the Junoon bowling attack was impressive from the start and the Regents openers were finding it quite difficult to get some willow on the ol' leather.

It didn't take long for wickets to start tumbling, and also at regular intervals. Tight fielding and bowling was the order of the day for Junoon and they didn't fail to impress. Eventually Regents finished on a below par total of 80 - 5. Junoon started the batting with the advantage of reaching a low score and were very confident they could do it with ease, but not taking anything for granted.

Faisal G got caught behind by a brilliant catch by the keeper, but then that was the only wicket Junoon were to lose. Rahil hit an unbeaten 45 with some glorious knocks and Faiz gave the support at the other end. In the end, Junoon reached the target of 81 within 10 overs, and with ease.

Overall, a great game played by both teams, and in the right spirit. Good luck to both teams in the league.
