On a cold and overcast evening Tawheed continued thier purple patch in
div 2, this time against Bengal Tigers. With the tigers taking to the field
with only 6 players, Tawheed took an upper hand in the game by claiming the
toss at 6.30 as Bengal tigers were still trying to get their players on the
field in time for a game.
Both skippers agreed to reduce the game to 14 overs a side as the light was
poor from the off. Although Nadeem and Arshad did not think so, by the way
they began. Arshad continued his form with the bat to add another
consecutive half century to his tally.
Mohammed Nadeem also added another 50 to his total. With both Batsmen
retiring Mohammed Ali was promoted to number 3 and was the only wicket to
fall. The tail wagged nicely as well, as Altaf made a cameo 28 in 2 overs.
Tawheed posted an impressive 157 in their allotted 14 overs.
The Bengal tigers had a nightmare start as Kevin was bowled 2nd Ball by Mo
ALi MK 11. Once more the spin attack of Arshad Ali put paid to the middle
order assuring Tawheed of a top half of the table finish. 3 Wickets and a 50
again for Arshad for the second week on the trot means another Man of the
Match award.
One more Ash and it's Shere Khans in Walthamstow for the rest of us ! BTW NO
pun intended Tigers (Shere Khans is a restaurant in E17)!!
Bengal tigers played valiantly, and the game was played in good spirits but
the shortage of players showed in the end. Good luck for the rest of the
season to both sides.
