A young Stoke Newington captain Ali Sarafat (18) chose to bat and in
the pouring rain was bowled for a duck with the score on 5. Waheed Ullah was
joined but Andre Samuel. Waheed rotated while Samuel set about the bowling.
Waheed was out LBW to Steve D with the score on 40 in the 6th over. In
came Imran but only another 19 were out on by the time Andre, knowing his
retirement was imminent, looped one to mid on for 47. Charlie Cox joined
Imran and kept an end up while Imran took over from Andre in pushing on the
score.
The grass was long and wet so scoring was not easy. Charlie went for 6
with 9 ball left and Stokey ended with 109 for 4.
Fields started well, both Stoke Newington openers struggling with
soggy miss shaped ball. On came Ali Sarafat to slow things down. He got
Shannon (13) LBW in his first over and Will (17) in his second.
Waheed Ullah came on at the other end and bowled very tightly getting
Chris for (5) with a slow one as Fields who were now under pressure. On came
Andre Samuel and Bowled Steve D (7) and then Jason Lord for a golden duck.
The game had changed. Tight bowling saw the run rate escalate and
wickets fell regularly. Fields ending on 88 all out. A fine performance from
a Stoke Newington team with only 3 players over 20.
