With temperatures near the 30c mark and pitch 3 resembling the savannah
of the African plains it was hardly going to be a run fest on the largest
ground at Victoria Park.
With TH winning the toss and electing to bat , the defending champions
Sky looked anything but as they dropped regulation catches at regular
intervals and it took the introduction of the evergreen Shakeel Durrani to
finally provide the breakthrough.
Sky then turned to their two most experienced campaigners in Rizwan
Siddiqui and Nozmul Hussain who proceeded to wreck the TH middle and lower
order and claim 5 wickets between them to restrict the score to 111 off 15.1
overs which included two full drinks breaks for the batting team, surely
some sort of record!
Sky began their chase in earnest with Aleem looking particularly
dangerous , however after an exhilarating hook shot for six he fell soon
after his opening partner Nozmul was dismissed.
It was then left to Sarfraz to steer the innings with 47 runs that
included some lusty blows to and over the boundary. Sky eventually chased
down the runs with wickets and overs to spare and so begin their division 1
campaign in good form.
