The Wronguns decided to follow what most other teams do when winning the
toss and have a bat.
This tactic immeadiatly felt right as Sheen supported by Copus set
about the some what rusty Lounge bowling with a fair bit of controlled
aggresion.
Half way through the innings after a succession of wides and little
success Lounge's first change bowler Barney started to peg back the
Wronguns.
The loss of Copus for 17 after he walked from a half hearted appeal
didn't feel like a dissaster because the Wronguns were rattling along at a
decent rate with a lot of batting power in the hutch.
Incledon showed good attacking intent but certain shots that would
normally of gone for four were slowed continually by the damp long grass. He
succumbed after 8 balls.
Harby entered to first support Sheen in reaching his maiden VPCCL
fifty then taking the initiative on himself to keep the score ticking over.
At the end of 16 overs the 115 score seemed somewhat light of being enough.
I think that this is testament that Lounge were starting to claw
themselves back into the game and although the Wronguns had batted
confidently well there were some half decent balls to face amoungst the
extras Wronguns opened up their bowling with CJ Parker an animal with the
pink ball he struck 3rd ball in with pretty much one of his now stock
deliveries.
Ames kept the other Lounge batsmen rooted to the spot from the other
end with a unplayable line and length. The swing that Parker was getting
would make Tarzan jealous.
Dot ball followed dot ball, pressure mounted to unbearable levels for
the batsmen and Wickets tumbled, Ames Took a wonder catch, Incledon also
made a catch look easy out at cover.
Generally the Lounge players were struggling with the outstanding
bowling and impressive Wronguns team effort to back the bowlers up.
Lounge finished 22 all out, only 11 came off the bat!!!!
All of the Wronguns sympathised with the Lounge players. This is a
freak result that has been threatened in the past but never to this
conclusion. Normally its the Wronguns who collapse.
Good Luck to Both teams in their future campaigns.
