Junoon won the toss and chose to bat on a surprisingly warm and sunny
evening in the midst of a rainy week.
Runs were made steadily but the outfield wasnt helping at all with all
the water-absorbed ground making a resistance to run scoring. Eventually JCC
finished on 109 in 14 overs (reduced).
In came Tower Cavaliers to chase the total and with Firoz and Nomaan
opening the bowling attack, runs were made scarce and eventually the first
wicket fell at deep square leg , caught by Waleed off Firoz's bowling.
The run rate didnt bother JCC much as they knew it was more about
containment rather than wicket taking at this stage. The opener Stephen
William showed good resistance with a knock of 45 until he eventually got
run out by the keeper Aamir.
Aamir then stepped up to the game and took 3 stumpings to get rid of
the middle order in quick succession, only to edge the game towards JCC. In
the end, Tower Cavaliers fell short by 14 runs and JCC won the match with a
brilliant team effort, especially the bowling.
With 3 points in the bag, JCC will have to wait for the last qualifier
to see which division they end up in. Good luck to both teams in the league
for this season.
