Sky v Rose & Crown
|
| Wednesday 10 August 2011, Victoria Park |
Sky won by 54 runs
Sky won the toss and chose to bat first
Sky: 151 for 7 in 15.5 overs
Rizwan Siddiqui 50
Shakeel Durrani 50
Bob 3.5-0-35-4 (including hat trick)
Rose & Crown: 97 for 7 in 14.5 overs
Shaun 38
Sam 27 n.o.
M Rehan Warsi 4-0-22-2 Kaifi Khan 3-0-10-3
Sky won the toss , elected to bat and lost Aleem Hussain early but a 100 run
second wicket partnership between Rizwan (50)and Shakeel (50) laid the
foundations for a 175+ score , however once both retired , Rose & Crown in
general and wicketkeeper/bowler Bob suddenly found their range, kept the run
rate down and began to pick up wickets.
In the final over London Field's Bob bowled Sky's No 8 Shahid which only
meant the return of the retired Rizwan and Shakeel, no problem for Bob , who
removed both in successive balls and duly completed a memorable hat-trick
and restricted Sky to 151.
Rose & Crown's chase began slowly against tight opening spells from Rizwan
and Rehan and once Rehan made the breakthrough the rest of the line up could
not maintain a competitive run rate despite good knocks by Shaun (38) and
Sam (27n.o.)as Rehan and Kaifi (3-0-10-3)ensured the innings subsided in the
15th over for 97.
So, we wait, have Sky won their 6th title, have London Fields completed a
maiden championship triumph..are CC and Ducks still in it...as Sir Alex is
often quoted as saying...'squeaky bum time' !!
