| Thursday 23 June 2011, Victoria Park |
Caledonian Conquerors won by 4 wickets
Caledonian Conquerors lost the toss and were put into field
New Boys: 116 for 4 in 16
Saj Rehman 4 0 24 2 Omar Ali 2 0 9 2
Caledonian Conquerors: 117 for 4 in 14.1 overs
Kashif Malik 54
Not Out Mohammed Nadeem 18
Shahid Mohammed 16
Iftikahar 4 0 23 1 Balash 4 0 23 1 Tamim 1 0 9 1
New Boys were kept to a below par target of 116 off thier allotted 16
overs. Although they had wickets intact, New Boys made hard work of thier
batting as they struggled to find the boundaries on pitch 2. With the pace
taken off the ball, Cally's Spinners managed to keep the New boys shackled
throughout thier innings.
No one really got going to give New boys a defendable total. Cally's recent
fielding woes were put to bed with a hungry and fit outfit finally on the
pitch. Omar was the Pick of the Cally's Bowlers as he struck twice in 1 over
to remove the New boys middle order.
Cally's started well but lost the openers in consecutive deliveries with
Nadeem Caught off the last ball of the 5th over and Shahid cleanly bowled by
New Boys Spinner Iftikhar.
New boys smelt blood, but their celebrations were short lived as Callys own
'New Boys' Obaid Rehman and Kashif Malik, not only stablized the innings
with a solid defensive display of batting but also took the attack to the
New Boys.
Obaid played a defensive 6 runs in as many overs before being superbly run
out. He was, however the perfect partner to keep the strike ticking over as
his partner Kashif Malik was seeing the pink ball like he was on the driving
range.
His clean hitting was so hard that even the guys in the nets had to look for
some head protection. A good clean game played in the right spirit.
Good luck to the New Boys for the rest of the season.
