"Javed Soomro, ostensibly Sky's experienced batsman turned in a
stellar all round performance to lead Sky to a massive 151 run victory in
the 1st Division league match against Tower Cavaliers who were dismissed for
the sum total of 2 runs in their innings.
Having won the toss Sky's stand in captain Imran Khan opted to bat and the
top order soon set about the Tower Cavaliers attack rattling up a score of
153 by the end of the 13th over with Javed retiring on 50.
Imran then decided to declare the innings, with hindsight, a wise
decision given the forecast of heavy rains later that evening (resulting in
the other two matches on the neighbouring pitches being abandoned).
Sky's captain later revealed that he felt his team had enough runs in
the bank and that his bowlers would do the job, what followed was beyond
even his wildest expectations.
Hasan Mahmood opened the bowling and with immaculate discipline ended his
over with a maiden and a wicket, Imran then tossed the ball to Javed who not
to be outdone by Hasan picked up 4 wickets including a memorable hat-trick.
Hasan returned and mopped up the tail and that was that. Tower Cavaliers had
been bowled out in 14 balls for 2 runs.
Sky therefore continue their unbeaten run and await sterner tests while
Tower Cavaliers have the dubious honour of setting a new record for lowest
total in the 15 year history of the Victoria Park Community Cricket League"
