Mick Reid of Rose & Crown writes:
It was quite an exciting match with our Brian Mclellan dismissing Sky's young opener with a stupendous diving catch, high in the air, on the
mid-wicket boundary.
League President Bert Vandermark said "that the was the best catch I've ever seen in Victoria Park".
Sky then had three batsmen retire, including Shakeel, before they reached fifty.
They believed that those batsmen would have been able to return if required later in the innings.
It was our belief, and we haven't checked the Laws in this respect, that a batsman who
simply retires in effect retires 'out' and cannot come back.
This could have caused some controversy in the game as Sky only had seven players and,
had the Rose and Crown taken one more wicket, we would have won.
It would be interesting to know what the Law is on retiring. It poses
potentially yet another complication to the retire at 50 rule...........
