2000 Victoria Park Community Cricket Cup

The draw for the first round took place in the Falcon and Firkin after the inaugural Champions v President's fixture.

The Cup eventually, after lots of rescheduling due to pitch nightmares and rain, played out like this.

First round

The Final was one of the best games I can remember and I'm really glad that I didn't manage to wriggle out of umpiring it. Mola Jutt batted first on the small pitch and I was anticipating scores of 200 plus. Some good bowling and fielding from Newham A kept them to 159. With the target a perfectly reasonable 10 an over, Newham A looked to have the match well under control at 113-2 in the tenth over. Then there was a dramatic flurry of wickets, including 2 in 2 for Shakeel and Newham were amazingly all out for 119 (I think) in the 13th over. Mola Jutt claim the Cup for the third year running and still have a chance of doing th double. Don't you guys ever get bored??? - Sarah Barnard
