In true Victoria Park league fashion both teams refused to allow the
torrential rain of one hour earlier stop play, despite the fact that both
the other scheduled matches were cancelled.
Skipper Michael lost his first toss of the season as the Tigers
unsurprisingly elected to bat first. In contrast to the earlier stormy
weather the Ravens headed into the field bathed in bright sunshine and
limited the Tigers to 88 from their 12 overs with Dennis the pick of bowlers
conceeding only 11 runs from his 3 overs.
As it turned out it was an excellent toss to lose as no sooner as the
Tigers innings ended the heavens opened. In increasinly difficult bowling
and fielding conditions the Ravens notched up the required runs in a little
under 6 overs thanks to some big hitting from Ken who retired on 50 in the
fifth over.
And finally a word on our opponents the Tigers. A better team than the
scorecard suggests and a good bunch of guys who are an excellent addition to
the league.
Submitted by Michael Biggs of Tower Ravens Both teams braved
the inclement weather for a reduced over encounter. Carrot cake was enjoyed
by all.
