Caledonian Conquerors won by 101 runs
Caledonian Conquerors 142-6
Wayne 37 not out
Island 41 all out
Island's Steve Hill writes: In thundery storm clouds, Island won the toss and put Caledonian Conquerors in to bat in a top vs bottom clash.
With a much depleted team due to injuries and sickness and an average age of under 17, Island bowled tightly and restricted Caledonian to 142 for 6 off their 16 overs, with Leon Davies taking 3 for 28 off his 4 overs, and Wayne top scoring with a quickfire
37 not out.
As the storm clouds unleashed their fury, Island's batting collapsed early on and they found themselves 20-5 off the first 20 balls, with Trevor and Akib taking the wickets with an imperious opening spin attack.
Despite an attempt to appeal to have the match abandonded because of the weather, ("the spectators sheltering under the tree were considered at more risk from the lightning than those out in the field, so play goes on!!!") Island finally limped on to 41 all out off 8 overs, with 16 year old wicket-keeper Jack Stollery top scoring at 14.
Because of the injuries, three 15 year olds were making their debut for Island who now have their sights set on the third division title of the Super 6 stage, whilst Conquerors finish top of the Green League with an impressive full house of 8 wins from 8 matches.
